For long, plotty and original NCIS Gibbs/DiNozzo fics, look no further than Lady Ra.

Some of you in the SGA fandom may recognise her from her McShep classic Loving Rodney.

Back to the NCIS fics, Tears and History are great, but I love Sensing Evil for its weird and unexpected supernatural creepiness. Consider this one definitely AU!

I'm currently reading the beautiful McShep verse Nantucket and it reminds me of all the wonderfully written fics in that fandom and it's prompted me to start my Top Twenty Fics of all Time. Multi-fandom. I think it would be interesting to figure it out, post and then come back to it every six months to see how much it's changed. Right now I'm just trying to make a random list of memorable fics from all my fandoms. Erm, this might take some time, especially as I intend to re-read all the serious contenders. Eeep.

New year, new layout. I'm going with a Nero banner this time. I think my infactuation with him will last as long as the game does, so best give him banner time while the urge is hot.

As years went, 2008 was okay. Some of it was fantabudastic, some of it made me wish I'd been born anyone but me and some of it was just fine.

I passed my OU course with a distinction, wrote two original novels, attended [livejournal.com profile] writerconuk, found several new fandoms, read a shit-load of books, comics, magazines and fanfic, got to know my family a little more ...

No wonder I'm exhausted!

My favourite books of 2008 were Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider books, Mark Haddon's A Spot of Bother and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and The House at Riverton by Kate Morton.

My favourite film was Iron Man. Not a good year for films. I actually found The Dark Knight to be somewhat of a disappointment. I feel a chick-flick phase approaching.

My fabourite TV shows were Torchwood, Doctor Who, Merlin and The Apprentice (When is that back on? I need some Sugar).

My favourite fandom was Torchwood (Jack/Ianto).

My favourite fics were Time Enough (Jack/Ianto) by [livejournal.com profile] veronicaluv, It Didn't Start Like This (Jack/Ianto) by [livejournal.com profile] szm, Take a Sad Song and Make it Better (Harry/Draco) by [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic and Drop Dead Gorgeous (Harry/Draco) by Mistful.

My favourite dog was Indy, my favourite socks the red, stripy, fluffy ones, my favourite PJs the purple Eeyore with checked bottoms, favourite slippers the red slip-ons with pom poms. Fav perfume J-Lo Glow, fav body cream Molton Brown Yuan Zhi, fav people YOU GUYS!!!

I've been rather quiet lately and apart from being stricken with Multiple Exargeritis Sympathy-Requireous it has been because I've been immersed in a huge fic in a brand new fandom: Harry Potter. Yes, folks, [livejournal.com profile] amejisuto has corrupted me yet again and I've been reading a fantistic fic called Secrets by Vorabiza. It's Harry/Draco and it's set just after the sixth book, providing an ending which satisfies me greatly. It's my dream ending.

I was totally in to Harry Potter years ago, but sometime after The Goblet of Fire, the same time that I discovered Buffy and then Slash, I went off it. I've recently re-disovered it after reading the last two books and now I'm hooked.

So, any others fans on my flist?

I was having a look through some of the old files on my laptop and I came across a few caps that I'd done of the first season of 21 Jumpstreet - my original obsession and the series that kicked off a Johnny Depp fixation that spanned 14 years.

And the only thing to break that obsession was ~drum roll~ you guessed it, Buffy. Or, more specifically, Spander.

So, in fond memory of a TV show long passed but much loved, I made an icon. ~points~ Totally sharable. Feel free to snag.

Now, that brings me to something else.

I wrote a heck of a lot when I was very young, but for reasons that I wont go into - because it would probably involve pages and pages of babble and the possible need for a head doctor - I stopped writing around the age of about 14. Shortly after, I discovered 21 Jumpstreet, and , as I said before, it kicked off a mammoth obsession with the show and with Johnny Depp.

Then, several years ago, I discovered The Matrix. Cue another obsession. But instead of replacing my Johnny kink ~cough~ it merely extended it. I began to fantasise about Tommy from Jumpstreet, who by this point was so much more than an undercover cop - in my head - and Neo with his dark glasses, long coat and Big Fucking Guns. Yep, in my head, I crossed them over.

I will also admit to dreaming about Johnny Depp/Will Smith, although it came nowhere near to the utter joy of Tommy/Neo. I even had T/N Sims.

And the rest is History, or if you'd like a slightly longer version: Along came Spike and Xander and within a week poor old Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves were out on their unwanted, discarded, frankly-not-interested backsides. Two months later I was writing again.

This got me to wondering, if I'd known about fanfiction all those years ago, would I have written Jumpstreet slash? Or Matrix slash? Would I have written a really weird Jumpstreet/Matrix hybrid crossover? Or, if we go back a little further, Doctor Who slash? Or ~gulp~ Neighbours slash? (And yes, you may bitch-slap me for my Jason Donovan phase)

So, what about you? What would you have read, searched for, or written if you'd known about slashfic/fanfic a decade or more before?

I was just flicking through my flist and I came across THIS post by [livejournal.com profile] pretties_4u who is the very talented other half of the equally talented [livejournal.com profile] tabaqui. Go take a look. There's a list of search strings that people have typed and led them to Tab's and Cat's websites.

It was so damn funny and seeing as I myself, since taking over the running of my site from BB, have been fiddling with my wesite stats I decided to see what people have been typing in their search engines to lead them to my site. As you'll see, most are logical. some, however, are a little...disturbing.

~cough~ I'd just like to point out that I've never turned Xander into a girl. I do not write dog shagging stories, nope, not even one. And mr. dobble ima mr. dob bob a la????? WTF? I can't even begin to explain that. Or the Kitten with the sagging stomach. Erm, but I will admit that I've most probably written 'into Xander's ass' a whole lotta times ~g~

Thanks to Cat for amusing me and cheering up what was a very dull, depressing day.
