Spuffy Questions

Okay, so I was just thinking. Um, I do that, sometimes, when I've got time on my hands.

Why do I hate Spuffy? Why is that?

On the show, Buffy treated Spike like total shit. So that's obviously why I don't like canon Spuffy. And that's also the reason that I also hate her. Just a little bit.

But I don't want to hate her! She's the Slayer! She's supposed to be good!

Now, if Buffy and Spike had had a beautiful romance throughout the show, would I still feel the same way about her? Possibly not.

I mean, I don't hate Anya. Okay, so she rarely appears in my fics, but that's because I don't tend to deal with Xander's past het. I like to pretend that it doesn't exist ~g~

I've only ever read two Spuffyish fics. Wolf At Your Door by amejisuto which I read firstly because I love Ame and secondly because Buffy dies. Also, it's bloody good. Go read if you haven't.

And the other fic is Nexus by rakshathewolf. This, as many of you may know, is the best Xangel fic EVER written. This fic also contains a small amount of Spuffy which is shown in a good light. Strangely, it just doesn't bother me. Now, is this because the fic is so damn good or because I can cope with Spuffy as long as Buffy isn't kicking Spike in the breadbasket?

That started me thinking about Spuffy fanfic in general. And here is my question:

Do Spuffy fics tend to follow canon and show an unhealthy S/B relationship or do they tend to show the duo in a better light and with a happy ending?

And also, how are other the other characters portrayed? Like in a Spander fic we often bash Buffy. Who gets bashed in a Spuffy fic?
