I have period pain and no hot water or heating. The Housing trust were informed that my grandfather is slowly developing hypothermia six hours ago when I contacted their emergency out-of-hours service. I phoned them again an hour ago and they had no record of my original call.

No wonder so many elderly people literally freeze to death. No one gives a fuck, do they?

I like things in threes so I feel I must find something else to moan about aside from the heating and the period pain. Let me think. Okay, I am hungry and I can't start the Sunday Roast without any hot water to wash it up after and knowing my luck, the engineer will turn up right in the middle of things and I'll burn my roasties.

"No one gives a fuck, do they?"

No, they really don't. If that was a child they'd have been over asap. as It's an elderly person they'll only bother to turn up If you've rung them 48 times in a row. *Grr*

I totally agree. Three times I've phoned now and even though we should have been at the top of the list because they lost my original call from five o'clock this morning, we're still at the bottom. Nice.

That is dreadful and some one should be held accountable!

I really do wish someone would be held accountable, but it doesn't seem to work that way. If it were me, I'd do everything I could to make sure an elderly person was as safe and comfortable as possible because beside it being the right thing to do, it would hate to think I would have done something to contribute to someone's death.

We didn't get to have a roast in the end. I did toasted cheese sandwiches instead. Oh well.

Whoa, yeah, I'll take some of that heat!!

Do you have any heaters you can use (or hot water bottle for grandfather?). I can't say I'm surprised at the lack of response, somehow elderly people just don't seem to be a priority in the UK.. *sighs*

No chance of boiling a kettle to wash up in - a hot meal sounds just what you need right now.

Hope you can both keep warm.

Well, the engineer has just left -- that only took 10 hours. The problem isn't fixable today so he's left us with some portable heaters. I'm okay with a thick jumper, so I've just aimed one of the heaters at grandad and dug out my Scooby Doo hot water bottle and he seems much better now. The engineer also pointed out that we can get hot water via the electric. Apparently we have a switch, lol!

We ended up with toasted cheese sandwiches in the end, but I shall cook something a bit nicer tonight.

Thanks, luv. Looks like we'll be without heat for a few days at least. The engineer left us with some heaters so at least that's something.

We had no heat for a while a few weeks back, wear lots of layers and hot water bottles help.
Also if you’re grandad is getting a state pension and its below 0 for more then seven days he should get some money to help with the bills. My grandad got 25 pounds because it was below 0 and he got a payment for winter heating. Make sure he gets it because it will help a lot. *hugs*

*hugs* I'm thinking of you, because damn, it's cold today. Take care, hon.

No electric blanket, but I did manage to find my Scooby Doo hot water bottle for him and the engineer just left us a couple of little heaters to tide us over until the blockage can be fixed.

It's snowing outside! Meeep!

Eeps! This is just awful, sweetie. :( I certainly hope that they come soon to take care of this. I'm just glad that your grandad isn't there alone - he'd be a goner. :( You just have to wonder what the world is coming to, don't you? *sigh*

*hugs you tight - sends warmth your way*

Oooh, your icon is sexy!

The engineer just left us with some little portable heaters because our pipes are fucked and we won't be able to get them fixed for a few days now. It's actually snowing outside now so this is not good.

No worries! We apprently have hot water. We still have the option to run it off the electricity. It's expensive and I didn't even realise we still had it, but it's there, thank goodness.

~huggles~ Definitely feeling better and a little bit warmer now we have a mini-heater. It's horrible using the bathroom, though. It's freezing up there!

You're probably snuggled up in bed by now, but here's soemthing that should put a smile on your face. I'm sitting here watching Boa vs Python... with Mommie Dearest. She was in hysterics during the interspecies oral sex scene, and she 's loving the Hewlett. :D
