Has anyone seen this stuff all over the news today about the bloated duck and goose livers Foie Gras? Fucking disgusting. Filthy bastards. I cried for a while and now I'm going to do some research and find what I can personally do to stop this cruel act: THIS and THIS

And if you can, watch THIS and tell me you don't want to do something.

I'd already seen most of it and worse on the news so when I found the video on YouTube I just skimmed it. I couldn't watch it either. Barbaric.

I saw it all over the lunchtime news and it is utterly disgraceful what they do to those poor defenceless animals. I'm a vegetarian and an animal rights activist, and this absoloutely disgusted me. I'm with you.
Also, if I haven't told you already (slightly off topic), I love your H/D fiction. :)

I almost couldn't believe my eyes. How can this type of thing still go on??? I'm absolutely floored by it. I've got to do something!

Oh, and thank you! ~blush~ I'm still pretty new to writing H/D, but I'm really enjoying it. Draco is a wonderful character.

Check out www.farmsanctuary.org they have been instrumental in getting several states to ban cruel Foie Gras practices, as well as veal crating, selling downed animals for slaughter as human food, etc.; although Chicago city council members (paid off by the factory farming industry) have just introduced an ordinance to repeal the Foie Gras ban that was just passed there. Farm Sanctuary is also in the middle of a write-in/call-in/email campaign to get Amazon.com to stop selling Foie Gras by mail.

It's not on, is it? And it makes you wonder about how other animals are treated, too. What other animals do they fatten up?

This is exactly why I've stopped eating meat. I really don't want to know how it got on my plate & what happened to make it get there. I understand eating for survival, but this is not even that! It's just plain sadistic cruelty!!

Poor duckies.
I'm a meat eater through and through. I likes me the meat (and that sounded dirty), but I'm a big believer in people not being cruel to animals. Most countries have laws against animal cruelty, yet somehow the laws don't apply to food production.
Serious, I'm pretty sure they made fois gras back in the day without forcefeeding the wee animals. ::Sighs::

I always thought animals bred for food had to be looked after and killed in a humane way. I'm in total shock that this isn't always the case!

I'm a carnivore but this is the reason I've never eaten foie gras. Or veal, for that matter.

You know, you just have to stop eating meat, because ducks and gooses are not the only animals to suffer. Do you know what they do to chickens ? And calves ??? It's just HORRIBLE.

Well, I live in France, in the region where Foie Gras is the local culinary specialty. I don't like Foie Gras if you want to know and I already know about this, but seriously... I think it's not enough to only want to stop this when the meat you bought in supermarket is from animals who endured terrible pain.

And it won't stop because, believe me, people (and not only french people) LOVE Foie Gras. And people LOVE meat. And they don't understand that meat which came from pain is not healthy for our bodies. And even when you know it, people don't stop eating meat, because what can they do ? They LOVE meat and government support this...

I know I sound defaitist and maybe I am... But if you have an answer, tell us, please.

Sorry for my poor english... ToT

No, no, you mustn't feel that way. Things can be changed; enough people just have to want them too, and the only way to do that is to keep spreading the word and campaigning and marching and getting the facts out to the naive people such as myself.

Baby steps. Rome wasn't built in a day and women didn't get the vote overnight. But it happened regardless. Here in the UK Foie Gras is considered a delicacy, like caviar or snails or something like that. It will be much easier to get rid of a product like that than to get rid of, say, beefburgers. We've already banned its production so just one more step to go. Start small, work up :oD

Your written English is great!!

Oooh. In France, never Foie Gras would be banned. It's like tradition, you know. Like Corrida... People doesn't want it to stop because they like it. A lot. T_T The best you can do here is to refuse to eat foie gras or go watching corridas...

Thank you for my english. You're too nice XD
