People who don't have a clue what they are talking about but still feel free to express an opinion on it anyway.
HP is not an underage fandom. I feel highly fucking insulted by that. HP is a massive fandom with thousands and thousands and thousands of followers, writers and artists. Yes, there is a small percentage of underage stuff, but you know what? Other fandoms have that too, and yes, that does include our very own BTVS.
There is always going to be fic and art of dubious content, including underage. I've lost count of the amount of rape fics I've come across in BTVS and no, not all of them deal with the serious issues concerning rape. Some of them are pure titillation.
And something else to consider: does a fic about a 13 year Ron and Hermione necessarily have to include cock rings and fisting? Clean out your minds because not all fics are about the actual act of sex, even slash, femslash and het fics.
HP has a huge gen following also. What I'm saying is, you can't label a fandom underage and use that as an insult when if you actually bothered to look around the fandom properly, you would find that it just isn't true.
I do not belong to an underage fandom. I do not write underage fic, and if I did it would only include scenes appropriate for the age of the characters. Just because the characters from a book or a show or a film are underage, it doesn't necessarily mean the fic is going to be perverted filth.
Is that all understood or should we all write to Marvel and tell them not to write the Young Avengers because the gay couple are only 16? Oh, haven't you read that either ...?
