Fic Pimping
Apr. 29th, 2007 07:45 pmI'm always the last to know about everything, so all you Harry/Draco shippers on my flist, you probably already know about these fics, but I'm going to pimp them in the hope of maybe catching one or two people who are in the dark.
Firstly: Transfigurations by Resonant - Post war with Harry and Draco in their twenties, back at Hogwarts to teach. Beautifully written, this fic is full of humour and the characterisations are just splendid. Draco's personality is witty and cutting and completely believable as an older version of the character. He's an absolute toff who's lost his muggle hatred. I adore the author also; she's written some very fine Mcshep fics which are also well worth checking out, my fav being Abstain
Lastly but certainly not leastly (and I think I've just invented a new word; take note everyone): Drop Dead Gorgeous by
mistful. Blame
darkhavens and
literati for this rec, and thank goodness for them. This fic is...how can I put this...fucking awesome. It's a WIP, which I don't normally do, but I made an exception because this is simply one the very best fics I've ever read. Post Hogwarts, post war and Draco and Harry are both Aurors. They're teamed up as reluctant partners when they're both on the edge of being fired, and from that springs up a steady, slow-burning friendship that has many ups and downs, but is mostly of the stuff that makes your heart swell and your fingers clench. It's laugh-out-loud funny and laced with angst that somehow isn't in your face but instead sneaks up on you while you're laughing and proceeds to stab your chest now and again with something sharp and painful. It's a wonderful window into Harry's mind and how he grows closer to a completely barking mad and totally likable Draco. It's quite long and it's gen at this stage, but I'm hoping for great slashy things and a happy ending. Please. There's also a smaller story being told in the same verse, which is a smaller version but from Draco's POV. That is also a WIP, but I'm almost positive the last part will be posted in the next few days.

Also, I went shopping and brought: three pairs of jammies, two t-shirts, two work tops, seven pairs of socks and a pocket thesaurus - all for about £30.00. Bargainus!

I really hope you enjoy it. It's so well written and, if possible, it makes me love the characters even more. Ron is great in this fic, too.

Date: 2007-04-30 03:20 pm (UTC)The part where Draco's laying under the table laughing is priceless!
Yes! I only intended to take a sneak peak and save it all for later, but Draco under the table absolutely split my sides and I had to go on: “Say he’s going to grow a beak,” Malfoy said prayerfully from under the table. “Say we’re all going to see him balance his glasses on a beak. Make my life complete.”
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

As for Transfigurations, it will remain in my top 5 for all time. :)

Oh my god yes, me too. I've been known to cry and get myself into a right old state ~blush~ Do you think this fic will end happily? I don't know the author at all.
I swear, from Draco under the table onwards, I was totally hooked. God, I want to read it again right now! I simply can't wait for the last part of Draco's POV.

It's definitely in my top ten fics of all time from any fandom, and I suspect that Drop Dead Gorgeous will be right near the number one spot as long as it ends well. Thank you for firing it at

Date: 2007-04-30 10:58 pm (UTC)I have no idea, I hope so. She's also written Underwater Light (http://lasairandmaya.com/mayafic/), have you read it? It ends well and is considered a classic. She also has another WIP called Quality of Mercy but it could end up Draco/Charlie in the end, both seem possible. I haven't read it yet and I won't until I'm sure what it ends up. There's also If You've a Ready Mind (http://elsie.livejournal.com/72090.html) which features a Ravenclaw Draco. In glasses. :D
Yes, the under the table scene was hilarious! However I was hooked when it turns out Harry's a veela. I simply die for veela fic. The next part of Draco's POV was posted sometime yesterday (for me - time zones) and it's now 3/4. It got bigger. :D
As for more laugh inducing fic, have you tried Mirabella's Harry Potter and the Inconvenient Condition (http://theguestroom.houseofhobbits.com/hp/Condition.html)? Dude, priceless. I reread this every few weeks.
Oh, don't worry. I'll continue to flood

Date: 2007-05-01 06:48 pm (UTC)Ooooh, more things to read! I haven't read any of them. Thanks! I must track down a whole list of classics. Goodness, there is so much!
That was my first Veela!Harry fic. I *adore* Veela!Draco fics where's he suddenly stunning and a little bit dangerous. Yum. I'm reading Gold Tinted Spectacles at the moment and I've decided I like bonding fics, too.
I saw the post! Yay! Big is good. Need more now, though. right now. Poor Draco.

That sounds promising! I think I'll check that one out after GTS.
Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Thanks, sweetie ~huggles~

Date: 2007-05-01 11:21 pm (UTC)There's a oneshot that I adore, too. Veela!Draco and slightly creepy: Compulsion (http://archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=8344&chapter=1&font=&size=). There are too many for me to list really, that masterlist is your best bet. :D
I've yet to read GTS, I keep starting it but haven't finished it.
Enjoy!
p.s if you're ever in the mood for specific fic feel free to ask, I've read a lot and they seem to stick in my mind. I may forget how to tie my shoes one day, but I can pretty much find any fic. :P

Thank you so much for the list and I will definitely be asking for some specifics! ~clings~ Actually, if you can think of any off hand, do you know of any good H/D fics featuring lots of Lucius as a good father? Erm, or a bad one. Or how about where Snape acts as a sort of father figure to Draco and/or Harry? I'm definitely in the mood to see some parenting. Hee!
GTS isn't bad. I'm curious as to where it's going.
