I've been rather quiet lately and apart from being stricken with Multiple Exargeritis Sympathy-Requireous it has been because I've been immersed in a huge fic in a brand new fandom: Harry Potter. Yes, folks,
amejisuto has corrupted me yet again and I've been reading a fantistic fic called Secrets by Vorabiza. It's Harry/Draco and it's set just after the sixth book, providing an ending which satisfies me greatly. It's my dream ending.
I was totally in to Harry Potter years ago, but sometime after The Goblet of Fire, the same time that I discovered Buffy and then Slash, I went off it. I've recently re-disovered it after reading the last two books and now I'm hooked.
So, any others fans on my flist?

Date: 2007-04-02 09:19 pm (UTC)Harry/Draco? Oh, you poor thing. We must remedy this. Ron/Draco is the way to go, Suki! They're the Romeo and Juliet of Harry Potter! And so much anger. Yum. It's like a teenager version of Sirius/Severus. (GUH) But Most of All, we must submerge you into the sexiness that is Severus Snape.
Here, I have recs! Because one must look beyond Harry/Draco (sorry, i look at them as the Spuffy of Harry Potter...oh, wait, nevermind, JKR turned Harry/Ginny into that.). But, recs:
Percy Weasley Recs (http://frk-werewolf.livejournal.com/287647.html) cuz percy is love, yo.
Neville Recs! (http://frk-werewolf.livejournal.com/216993.html) cuz Neville is adorable.
Remus/Severus (http://frk-werewolf.livejournal.com/215089.html)
Sirius/Severus (http://frk-werewolf.livejournal.com/213791.html)
a small # of random pairings (http://frk-werewolf.livejournal.com/200434.html)
AND AND AND! The funniest story EVER written!!! It's Ron/Draco, It's got PIE. (who doesn't love Pie?) And it has Blaise Zabini without a shirt. Good times. Of Lust and Pie (http://www.fictionalley.org/authors/skoosiepants/OLAP01a.html)
Another fic of crack!fic-ness: In Love (http://prillalar.com/fic/stories/000225.php). There are no words for this. It's Marcus Flint, in love. *dies*
Okay...I'm done spamming you with awesome Harry Potter-ness. :P This is what you get for announcing this sort of thing to Harry Potter fans. We're just a little schizo and obsessive.
P.S. Ron/Draco Archive (http://chocolatefrog.net/fire+ice/fire_and_ice_homepage.html) and Thematic Harry Potter Lists (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=painless_j&keyword=HP+fic+thematic+master+lists&filter=all) (it's even got a list for felching and breathplay. dude.)

Because one must look beyond Harry/Draco (sorry, i look at them as the Spuffy of Harry Potter
LOL! I'm reading Spuffy? Well I never! BWAH!
Wow, thanks for ALL the recs! Now there's some fic to be getting along with!
I really adore Snape, but I can't work out in what form I like him best. I can't help but love him as a sort of father to Harry because that is damn cute and damn funny, and I'm quite attracted to the possibility of Snape/Sirius.
Here's a question I've been bursting to ask someone. Do you picture Sirius as he is in the films or do you have a different vision of him? I picture all the characters as they are in films (generally), but not him. I wondered if I was the only one.
Thanks again, luv! I'm so happy I've got another person to squee with!!

Date: 2007-04-02 09:47 pm (UTC)Ah, Sirius. No, I don't picture him as Gary Oldman. Actually, I picture him as a slightly older version of this guy (http://www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/4814/Events/4814/KevinZeger_Vespa_8728093_400.jpg.html?path=pgallery&path_key=Zegers,%20Kevin). I don't picture Remus as David Thewlis, either, though I do love David as an actor. Actually, and this is funny, Ralph Fiennes was always my Remus Lupin, and then he goes and plays the part of Voldemort XD. I do picture Alan Rickman as Snape, though, but a picture his younger self. After all, these guys are only in their mid-thirties.
Hee! I'm happy to be here to squee with you. *bounce*

Date: 2007-04-02 09:57 pm (UTC)Hello my name is wickedchocolate and lately I am addicted to HP fic.
The last HP fic I read was 12 hours ago.
I tried to be hard but I failed and I would do it again.
;-)
Yes, I confess that I am also hooked up now on HP stories.
As the actors and the characters have grown up and are now older, I finally be able to read it.
I like Harry and Draco stories and I have a soft spot for Severus Snape (I like the actor).
Found some good stuff out there which I shared and evil bunnies of the HP kind are haunting me now.

Date: 2007-04-02 10:07 pm (UTC)I'm totally with
Actually the HP fandom is the only other one I frequent and R/D is the first fic I wrote.
It's so cool that you've rediscovered the Potter love but please you must turn from the dark side..back away from the H/D...back away *shudders*

Date: 2007-04-02 10:35 pm (UTC)Harry/Draco is one of my fav pairings.
I often have one character I love slashed with any other male.
Harry/m
Xander/m
Blair/m
Rodney/m ect..
I even remember a Harry/Dudley fic I read years ago that was pretty good in a painful sort of way.
So, happy Harry reading. I'm right there with ya.

Date: 2007-04-02 11:24 pm (UTC)One ofthe best series I have EVER read in ANY fandom was in HP. The author took some of the common cliches (which actually kept me from reading it for months because of that fact) and reworked them into a story that rises above the canon in a fantastic adn almost unbelievable way.
Lightning Wave's "Sacrifice's Arc": http://archive.skyehawke.com/authors.php?no=1324
She takes the cliches we all have grown to be annoyed with and makes them work like none other. And she goes where Rowling doesn't - this is a WAR. Battles, guerilla tactics, torture, death - it has it all. And some of the best plot and characterization found anywhere.
It's HUUUUUUGE as well - all seven books rewritten.
And the cliches are: Slytherin Harry, Harry/Draco, superpowered Harry, Snape as mentor/father, Harry has a brother who is the Boy Who Lived, his parents are alive and maipulative!Dumbledore. It works.
I love it.

Date: 2007-04-03 12:47 am (UTC)One thing I noticed is common with people picking actors for Remus, is that it's almost someone with a distinguished and regal looking nose. I find this rather amusing. :P

Date: 2007-04-03 02:55 am (UTC)I read it on and off.
My OTP - Snape/Harry
My Guilty Pleasure OTP - Ron/Draco
Ink Stained Fingers - requires a password but totally worth it as an archive. Just plug in pairings and go!
There you can find my fave DM/RW Series Beg Me For It by Icarus totally sold me on the pairing.
Also my fave authors for Snarry at Ink Stained - Aucta Sinistra, Amethyst Lupin, and DementorDelta.
Cybele (http://swish-n-flick.netfirms.com/toc.htm) her fiction found on her own site. Quill and Ink is an awesome Snarry that has yet to be duplicated in my eyes.
As for DM/HP my favorite DM/HP story to this date has been written by SaborShadowKat, Draco Malfoy and The Heart of a Slytherin (http://www.sabershadowkat.com/harrypotter/homework.html) Yeah this is the one for me. I read it 'bout 7 maybe 9 years ago and I still thinks its one of the best DM/HP's ever written.
All in my humble opinion of course! Enjoy. Careful with Ink Stained it will suck you in. As a bonus kardasi.com also a password protected site but the Snarry fics there are also worth it!

Date: 2007-04-03 05:27 am (UTC)The only drawback I see to Harry/Draco is the tragic amount of really bad Harry/Draco being written. You know, the OOC, schmoop-tastic stories wherein the boys declare their undying love in the Great Hall and get engaged at the leaving ball, right after Harry handily kills Voldemort? Yeah, lots of those. *sighs* Still, love the pairing, and there are some good fics out there.
Yay for your re-discovery of Potter! And now I shall go read the story you mentioned.
