[livejournal.com profile] amejisuto and I were chatting about goodness-knows-what several weeks ago and it came up that Ame had never heard of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds which was a musical version made in the seventies, narrated by Richard Burton.

This was a childhood fav of mine and I've literally listened to it thousands of times since I was a kiddie. I found the music exciting and hypnotising and I was scared fucking shitless by the unscrewing of the cylinder. Nearly thirty years later and it's still considered an absolute classic.

So, I've finally got off my arse, dug out the CD and uploaded it. You are all welcome to download it.

If you like it and decide you want to buy it, Brits, you can get it, and many other versions, including a live DVD, from the above link, and those in the States can get it from here. Sorry to those outside of these countries; I really haven't got a clue.

So, download and I challenge you not to run screaming from the ghastly sounds of the cylinder.

Maybe one day we'll capture a fighting machine, eh? Learn how to make them ourselves and then...wallop! Our turn to do some wiping out! Whoosh with our heat ray!

Let me know if you have any probs with the link.

I don't need to download no CD, I've got the CD. Hell, I've got the vinyl LP with the proper-sized booklet and paintings. Neener.

WOW! So lucky! We only had the double cassette, and that stretched over a decade ago ~sigh~ I wish I had the vinyl.

I bought it when I was young, and I don't even remember how I heard of it. But I heard of it and it snagged my brain and I've never been without it ever since.

It is a classic. I grew up with it, I can't remember a time when we didn't have it.

So, you watched the ep? *itches to squee*
