Oct. 25th, 2006 03:22 pmMy grandad had two small strokes last night. It was very frightening and for a moment I really thought that was it - that he was going and he wasn't going to come back.
But he did and he's recovering well already. He didn't go to hospital because he refused, but we had the attention of an ambulance crew, a doctor and areally hot paramedic.
Grandad is still really tired and weak but he's doing well. I need to keep a really close eye on him, so I'm not able to go to work and - for those of you attending - I won't be able to join you on the LJ Highgate Visit this weekend. :o(
I want to thank BB for being there for me - again. I sometimes find it hard to say what I really mean and put the proper emotions behind it. I'm much better at writing it down. So, BB, you mean so much to me; my life is better because you're in it. Your friendship astounds me and sometimes I can't believe I'm this lucky. Just...thank you and always know how much I love you even if I rarely seem to say it. You deserve a whole bucket of tea and a sack full of mini-popodoms.
I think I'll go browse LJ for a while now, see what you 'orrible lot have been up to.

Date: 2006-10-25 07:32 pm (UTC)With my dad I knew he was having a stroke as he started getting confused and talking 'rubbish'. He then fell into unconsciousness for a brief period.
He didn't seem to suffer have any lasting effects, on the surface at least.

Date: 2006-10-25 10:03 pm (UTC)Thank you, sweetie. It's really scary, isn't it? And trying to get an elderly person to change their lifestyle is like pulling teeth - or possibly pulling dentures.
I'm glad your grandpa is okay, too.
~hugs again~
