Does anyone remember if The Master ever actually had a name? Was it ever mentioned where he came from, how he was what he was? How old was he? Any other fun-Master facts you guys can share with me?

You wouldn't belive I'd only recently watched series one, but I'm still having trouble.

Joss has mentioned that his name was down in the scripts as Heinrich Nest, though it was never said on the show. Thats about the only random fact I can remember :)

Joss Whedon's notes for the pilot indicate that the Master's name was Heinrich Joseph Nest and his age was 600 years. However, the flashback to 1609 in the episode Darla shows the Master already with his bat-like demonic visage, meaning he was far older than just 600 years by 1997, as this would have made the Master just 200 by 1609.

My boyfriend was a big fan of the show and recently we were discussing Buffy and Dracula. Anyway to make a long story short, :) He believes that the Master was the Childe of Dracula and that he was turned right around the war of the Roses. Which brought us to another discusion on Vampires and their influance on Wars. *Shurgs shoulders* The things you talk about while waiting on a cheeseburger at McDonalds, Anyway, hope I was of some help to you, Lady Q, who will go back to lurking once more.

Cool so glad that I could be of some help. If you really wanted to contect them to something bigger you could always contect them to Lilith, the Queen of Vampiers. There is a debat going on that She was the one who turned Dracula however some beleve that it was Cain since he was cursed for killing his brother. However I lean more towards the Lilith theory then I do the Cain theory. Anyway, glad to be of some help to you and *HUGS* Lady Q

My favorite Master fact is about the actor who played him, Mark Metcalfe. He played Doug Neidermeyer in Animal House...he was evil even back then. :-)

uh, i don't know if this is just something I read in a fanfic, but I seem to remember something about Kakitos (and I know I misspelled that) making deals with demons, and that the result of those deals were the physical changes in him, and btw, he is supposed to be what, over a thou? It isn't impossible that the Master made similar deals, and looked butt-ugly by the age of 200 when he turned Darla. At the very least, it makes for a reasonable explination.
oh and btw, the practice of last names only started not that long over a thousand years ago, barring the Greeks and Romans, so having a full complete name like his seems suspiciously modern for a guy who has been locked in a cave for 100 years by a mayor.

Goddamn, now I'm really confused!!

I thought the Master had only been stuck in the cave since 1937. Or was is 1837? Eeep! LOL!

The deal thing sounds quite plausable. I really would like to make something up along those lines. I don't remember it being in the series, but I'm willing to go with it anyway. It seems weird that Darcula is normal looking and The Master looks like an elephant's arsehole!
