So, I get in from work and I was actually shaking. My bus ride home was not good.
When the bus stopped at the top of Brighton Road, a guy got on without a ticket. I reconsised him imediately as one of the local drunks and so it didn't surprise me to see him swaying. I missed the first part of the argument between him and the driver because I was listening to my Mp3 player, but it soon became apparant that I needed to stop the music and be on my guard.
He swore a few times and stormed down the gangway to sit in the seats next to me and at that point the driver called the police.
Drunk man got up, threatened the driver then sat down behind me instead. I'm ready to bolt at this point, if need be. But the guy staggered off the bus again and the driver quickly closed the door. You'd think that would have been the end of it, don't you?
Nope.
The driver stands up and says that the police are on the way, but we have to stay where we are. There would be other buses approaching - one with a woman driver - that might stop and have the same problem.
Drunk guy goes back into the pub. For five minutes. He then returns to try and open the bus door using the emergeny button outside. Everytime the door starts to open the driver presses his button and closes it.
Drunk guy is now hopping up and down and screaming the most foul language that I've ever heard...apart from the last time that the dog trod on Grandad's foot.
Then it gets real scary. He tries to kick the door in. At this point and I'm wondering if he'll think enough to put a brick through the window. Christ, there were children on that bus. And a pensioner. I might be quick enough to cover my face and duck, but they wouldn't be.
Luckily though, the police arrived - complete with flashing lights and realistic nee-naw sound effects. And out of the car stepped the most HUGE police man that I've ever seen.
Problem diffused and we drove away.
So, I arrived home feeling a little anxious. But then I discover that
griefcounseling has been nominated for an award!!!
I feel so much better!!! Thank you to whoever nom'd this fic.
amejisuto and I are chuffed to bits. YAY!!!

It sure has been an up and down evening. I think I might need a hug. ~holds out arms~

That man needs to be wiped off the face of the planet. I can't abide people like that. Well, we only hope that next time he'll just walk under the bus.
