A new fandom to add to the growing list and a fic pimp

I've been rather quiet lately and apart from being stricken with Multiple Exargeritis Sympathy-Requireous it has been because I've been immersed in a huge fic in a brand new fandom: Harry Potter. Yes, folks, [livejournal.com profile] amejisuto has corrupted me yet again and I've been reading a fantistic fic called Secrets by Vorabiza. It's Harry/Draco and it's set just after the sixth book, providing an ending which satisfies me greatly. It's my dream ending.

I was totally in to Harry Potter years ago, but sometime after The Goblet of Fire, the same time that I discovered Buffy and then Slash, I went off it. I've recently re-disovered it after reading the last two books and now I'm hooked.

So, any others fans on my flist?

Oh yay!! Another fan! Wheeee!

Ron/Draco?!?!?! Goodness!! I'll give it a go!

Because one must look beyond Harry/Draco (sorry, i look at them as the Spuffy of Harry Potter

LOL! I'm reading Spuffy? Well I never! BWAH!

Wow, thanks for ALL the recs! Now there's some fic to be getting along with!

I really adore Snape, but I can't work out in what form I like him best. I can't help but love him as a sort of father to Harry because that is damn cute and damn funny, and I'm quite attracted to the possibility of Snape/Sirius.

Here's a question I've been bursting to ask someone. Do you picture Sirius as he is in the films or do you have a different vision of him? I picture all the characters as they are in films (generally), but not him. I wondered if I was the only one.

Thanks again, luv! I'm so happy I've got another person to squee with!!

Snape is awesome. If you like Snape as a father to Harry, then you'll love some of the AU fics out there that have him actually be Harry's father. The best two are Blood Magic (http://www.schnoogle.com/authorLinks/GatewayGirl/Blood_Magic/) (oh, god, so long but so awesome. it has harry/hermione -ew- but the relationship is shows developing between harry and snape is utterly AMAZING) and Mine (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1963825/1/) along with it's sequels (snape rescues Harry from the Dursleys when he's five and harry calls him Daddy and Snape is very, very possessive. it's SO CUTE!!!!)

Ah, Sirius. No, I don't picture him as Gary Oldman. Actually, I picture him as a slightly older version of this guy (http://www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/4814/Events/4814/KevinZeger_Vespa_8728093_400.jpg.html?path=pgallery&path_key=Zegers,%20Kevin). I don't picture Remus as David Thewlis, either, though I do love David as an actor. Actually, and this is funny, Ralph Fiennes was always my Remus Lupin, and then he goes and plays the part of Voldemort XD. I do picture Alan Rickman as Snape, though, but a picture his younger self. After all, these guys are only in their mid-thirties.

Hee! I'm happy to be here to squee with you. *bounce*

thought i'd put my two cents in. i totally agree about the Gary Oldman thing - your pic is so what my version of Sirius would be Marauder Era. funny about the David Thewlis thing - i heard before they started filming that Peter Wingfield was offered the role... and ever since he's been my Remus. :)

Yeah, that guy is a total Marauders-Era!Sirius, which is why I just age him for everything else. lol. I was watching Wrong Turn and that guy was in it, smoking weed, and I yelled out in the movie theater "OMG, it's SIRIUS BLACK!"

One thing I noticed is common with people picking actors for Remus, is that it's almost someone with a distinguished and regal looking nose. I find this rather amusing. :P

Oooh, I shall bare them in mind. Thanks!! Possesive!Snape, that's gotta be fun :oD

Ah, good, it's not just me, then. I don't picture Sirius as anyone that is famous, but I do have a definite picture of him in my head. Does it say anywhere in the books how old Snape and co are? I've really got to re-read the early ones.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

There's some debate on age, because JKR, as traditional for, has stated one age on her website and another age in the books. I go with the books, because that makes them younger. XD In book five when Harry looks through Snape's pensieve it says they were taking their O.W.L.S in 1975, which means they were at least 15 in 1975. Harry was born in 1980 and with that timespan, that makes Snape and Co 20 when he was born, and therefore 31 when Harry was 11, 36 when Harry's 15, etc.

But JKR made a comment on her website about Sirius being 22 when he was sent to prison, which either means that Sirius was like Hermione and a year older than everyone else OR it took Sirius nearly a year to catch up with Wormtail before being blamed for his murder.

And, dear Goddess, I pay way too much attention to the details to know this stuff off of the top of my head. >_> O_O

Ah, that makes sense! I think I will go with the age in the books, too.

BWAH! Thank goodness someone does! People like me rely on people like you! :oD
