Just been watching Secrets and Magic for episode 3 of Merlin. Bradley cracks me up with that camera. He was using it at a deserted train station and was so bored he started playing with the remote control, getting right down on the ground until, 'two people have just turned up and seen me rolling around on the station floor. A little embarrassing'.

LMAO!! Trust Bradley to cheer me up.

In a land of myth and a time of magic, I promised more picspams. I did not deliver. But now, with time on my hands and Sneaky Friends Who Persuade, I have returned with a brand new offering. Before you click and gaze upon my chosen pics and accompanying commentary, let me please point out that it is strangely difficult to find unintentional crack within such a cracked-up episode. I hope you will not be disappointed and, as always, please remember that I only poke fun at shows that I adore. I do not mean what I say. I don't mean that either.

All caps are by me and are free to take, use and alter. No credit required.

What with Saturday's episode of Merlin and this week's episode of Supernatural, me thinks the Gods of Television have caught on to the universal love of crack. Crack unites the masses! It's put me in a cracktastic mood and so I'm working on a new Merlin picspam.
suki_blue: <lj user=suki_blue> (Default)
Just caught up with Saturday's episode of Merlin. That's a bit more like it! I had several moments of squee and I thought the whole episode was well-paced and exciting. Oh, Merlin, I luffs you very much. I really want to sqeeze Colin Morgan.

Showmasters need to do a Merlin convention and they actually said they would if there was enough interest. So PLEASE join the Facebook group Showmasters should run a Merlin (BBC) convention! Come on, guys, Showmasters' conventions are the best in the country so if anyone should run a Merlin one, it should be them. Join and pimp this group all over the internet!

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] kitty_poker1, [livejournal.com profile] accioscar and I went to the British Film institute to see the premiere of episode 1 season 2 of Merlin. Despite feeling like complete crap, I had a wonderful day. Kitty and I did the London Eye and Aquarium earlier on in the day and then we met Scar outside the venue for the screening.

I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but I'd just briefly like to assure everyone on my flist who loves this show, that going by this first episode and the mix trailer, season 2 is going to be every bit as good as season one. And, yes, the slashy 'subtext' is still there in all its glory, starting about three seconds into episode 1. From the cheering and clapping, we slashers were clearly a majority. A children's event, they said! Silly BFI. They'll learn.

The Q & A afterwards was a lot of fun and I wish it had been longer. Funniest moment was the person who forgot Anthony Head's name and after umming and ahhing for a while simply called him Giles. WIN!

Kitty, Scar and I were in the front row and Colin and Bradly were a mere five feet away from us. I had several long internal debates about whether I should be staring at them or not. I couldn't help myself! They are both just as gorgeous in the flesh and Colin has the cutest smile I think I've ever seen. I need to think about it, but Colin/Merlin could be my new woobie. God knows I need someone to take over from Ianto Jones.

Bradley is a very funny man. His humour is slow and dry and more than once his way with words had Anthony Head giggling. Yes, Anthony Head is a giggler. It's official.

After the Q & A, lots of us gathered outside for the chance of another glimpse of the cast and maybe autographs. We were rewarded with Anthony Head and Katy McGrath. Kitty asked Tony if he would be attending Hallowhedon, but he hadn't heard anything about it. He did say he hoped Nicholas Brendon and James Masters wold pop over to see him if they were in the country. When I got my autograph, I had to have my usual fangirl moment and I told him he was 'the best king EVA!' He pulled up and puffed out, gave me a big smile and said 'thank you very much!'. Well, it's more or less proven now; I cannot go to a fan event without making a tit out of myself. Who remembers 'thank you for being so awesome!' to Burn Gorman at the Hub?

We weren't allowed to take photos at the event, but I manged to get in a couple before we were told to stop. Feel free to take them and use them, anyone. What's mine is yours etc. Dial-up people beware.

I don't know what I do to deserve you wonderful people, I really don't.

[livejournal.com profile] darkhavens has written me a fabulous Nightwing/Deathstroke fic. It's called Newsflash and I challenge you all to read it and tell me it's not hot-as-holy-fuck. You don't need to know anything about the DC Comics fandom other than that is Deathstroke in my icon in blue and orange and Nightwing (Dick Grayson) is the honey crouching in front of him.

Thank you so much, hon. This fic absolutely made my day.

In an effort to cheer myself up I have also been re-watching Merlin. Oh! I'd forgotten how adorable he is! How could I?? And Arthur, dear Arthur. 'Polish my sword'. Bwahahahaha, that never gets old. I might need Merlin fic. Anyone got some?

Cut for CoE spoilers )

New year, new layout. I'm going with a Nero banner this time. I think my infactuation with him will last as long as the game does, so best give him banner time while the urge is hot.

As years went, 2008 was okay. Some of it was fantabudastic, some of it made me wish I'd been born anyone but me and some of it was just fine.

I passed my OU course with a distinction, wrote two original novels, attended [livejournal.com profile] writerconuk, found several new fandoms, read a shit-load of books, comics, magazines and fanfic, got to know my family a little more ...

No wonder I'm exhausted!

My favourite books of 2008 were Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider books, Mark Haddon's A Spot of Bother and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and The House at Riverton by Kate Morton.

My favourite film was Iron Man. Not a good year for films. I actually found The Dark Knight to be somewhat of a disappointment. I feel a chick-flick phase approaching.

My fabourite TV shows were Torchwood, Doctor Who, Merlin and The Apprentice (When is that back on? I need some Sugar).

My favourite fandom was Torchwood (Jack/Ianto).

My favourite fics were Time Enough (Jack/Ianto) by [livejournal.com profile] veronicaluv, It Didn't Start Like This (Jack/Ianto) by [livejournal.com profile] szm, Take a Sad Song and Make it Better (Harry/Draco) by [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic and Drop Dead Gorgeous (Harry/Draco) by Mistful.

My favourite dog was Indy, my favourite socks the red, stripy, fluffy ones, my favourite PJs the purple Eeyore with checked bottoms, favourite slippers the red slip-ons with pom poms. Fav perfume J-Lo Glow, fav body cream Molton Brown Yuan Zhi, fav people YOU GUYS!!!

Just a few small recs because what with writing Grief Counseling and turning into Miss Sicky McFlu, I haven't had time to read hardly anything.

[livejournal.com profile] lucy_locket has written the most cute and fluffy Jack/Ianto Christmas fic. It gave me the biggest smile ever.

And lastly, here are some really nice Jack, Ianto and Owen icons, plus the most beautiful and clever Ianto wallpaper I have ever seen. By [livejournal.com profile] laura_guerin

Impossibly, this show gets slashier every week. I know I mostly see things through gigantic homemade slash goggles, but I put them on deliberately. As much as I've been spoiled by Jack and Ianto in Torchwood and as much as I joke about all men really wanting to do each other but just not admitting it, I do actually know when something isn't gay.

This. Show. Is. Gay.

Or at least it's as close as it can be without ever crossing the line.

Seriously, for those of you yet to see the show, you're probably thinking that I'm reading too much into things. But there is no reading. There is no subtle, underlying subtext. It's so blatant.

And side from the writers clearly paddling us all up the gay river, this show gives us a wonderful glimpse of male to male friendship, and that's something you don't see too much of.

Another great episode. In just eleven weeks, Merlin has already carved out a place for itself on British television, and it's going nowhere for a very long time.

Also, THAT UNICORN HAD NO EYES, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Layout changed, Christmas banner made and put up, new filter set, John Barrowman communities added to already heaving flist -- I am ready to leap back into LJ life.

In other news, it has been confirmed that Uther plays on a pink Nintendo DS rather than watching boring old tournaments.

The extras on the Merlin DVD are rather good, although I would have liked to see more. We must keep in mind, though, that it's a new series and so extra bits are likely to be thin on the ground at this stage. Hopefully the second DVD will have the deleted scenes and outtakes and the Children in Need clip. Saying that, the documentary Behind the Magic was interesting and funny, and the cast video diaries were hilarious. I loved that Bradley had to go get Colin when there was a big spider in his bath, and bless him for filming it (even if I did jump out of my skin in shock).

Here is picspam number 5, aimed at lovers of the new BBC show Merlin and also those I think should be lovers of the show and of the Merlin/Arthur pairing. 100-ish images, plus commentary.

All screencaps are free to take and customise. Go right ahead and share the Merlin love.

Anyone for a threesome? )
suki_blue: <lj user=suki_blue> (DW -- Adipose by cowbowhd)
No I did not just pre-order a cuddly, ten-inch Apipose. Okay, I did. But lookey at teh cute!

Who watched tonight's Merlin? The scene with the keys? Fricking funny. Oh, Arthur, you're such a dumb blond. I can't wait to picspam that. Which reminds me, must do my Lancelot picspam this week.

One more thing. There are more fireworks going off tonight than I've ever known around here, including massive ones being set off only two doors down. Yes, a full display including bonfire in a back garden is very sensible. Indy and Popcorn are not happy.

This is probably the slashiest of all the episodes so far which, believe me, is really saying something. I went overboard so beware when you click the cut. 80 something pics.

Images capped by me and are free for anyone to take.

suki_blue: <lj user=suki_blue> (Merlin -- Eye b/w by Literati)
I capped this episode early last week with the intention of proving what a great episode it is. Unfortunately, when I reviewed the pictures for cropping on Sunday I discovered almost all caps were close-ups of Arthur looking pouty and gorgeous and Merlin looking cute and adorable. Whoops! Oh well. You guys don't mind, do you?

You'll also notice the banner says mini-picspam. That is a lie. Click for 40-something of the buggers.

suki_blue: <lj user=suki_blue> (Merlin -- Arthur h&s in coat)
What a brilliant episode! I knew from last week's trailer, that it would be. Arthur on a quest to save Merlin's life. I loved every moment. Poor Merlin! And Arthur's concern! And worry!

And then there was the touching and the sweaty, delirious calling out of Arthur's name. And did you see the look they shared at the end?!?!? Man, the slash writes itself.

Wasn't keen on the spiders. And as always, texting with [livejournal.com profile] lucy_locket made the whole thing even more fun. I shall miss her next week when she's at the Hub meeting Gareth David-Lloyd. Honey, you have to text me if you get to speak to him. I NEED DETAILS!!

Back to the episode. One of my favourite bits was the Hello Chest moment (ha ha to Lucy, for great minds really do think alike). Guh. If you've seen the ep, you'll know the bit I mean. [livejournal.com profile] literati, are you still alive or did that bit finish you off??? My goodness, that man gets more and more gorgeous every week.

And speaking of the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] literati. She's in the zone and she's posted a massive load of Merlin icons HERE. Keep an eye on her journal because there will be more to come, plus HP. Whoo!
